¡¡¡¡BEIJING, June 9 (Xinhua) -- China and Kyrgyzstan issued a joint
statement and also signed 13 deals in Beijing on Friday during Kyrgyz President
Kurmanbek Bakiyev's first state visit to China.
¡¡¡¡China and Kyrgyzstan pledged to work on technical evaluation and financing
for the construction of a railway line also linking Uzbekistan, according to a
joint statement signed by Bakiyev and Chinese President Hu Jintao after their
talks.
¡¡¡¡The two countries also stressed that they will work together to crack down
on terrorism of any form, including the "East Turkistan" terrorist forces,
within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the
statement says.
¡¡¡¡The SCO, comprising China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and
Uzbekistan, will hold a summit meeting on June 15 in Shanghai to mark its 5th
founding anniversary.
¡¡¡¡After signing the joint statement, the two heads of state witnessed the
signing of 13 bilateral agreements on economy, agriculture, education and loan.
¡¡¡¡In talks with Bakiyev, Hu expressed appreciation of Kyrgyzstan's adherence
to the one-China policy, as well as China's support for Kyrgyzstan's efforts in
promoting social stability and economic development.
¡¡¡¡"The two sides should enhance coordination in such international
organizations as the United Nations and the SCO to facilitate peace and
development in the region and the world," Hu said.
¡¡¡¡Hu hosted a red-carpet ceremony to welcome Bakiyev at the Great Hall of the
People in downtown Beijing. Bakiyev assumed the presidency in 2005.
¡¡¡¡Bakiyev also met separately with China's top legislator Wu Bangguo and
Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday. He will attend a China-Kyrgyzstan trade seminar on
Saturday before concluding his two-day state visit.
